Asia-Pacific Regional Conference

We, at the OWHC_AP,
believe communication and dialogue are the most important vehicle to connect with the member cities. The Regional Conference for Asia-Pacific, therefore, provides a highly valuable opportunity to bring together member cities of the region to reinforce the sense of solidarity and enhance trust between them.

Since its inception, the OWHC-AP has been holding the regional conference every two years to discuss issues the World Heritage Cities are facing and to find the solutions to them.

For the past few years, the OWHC-AP has had in-depth discussions under the themes like community engagement and sustainable tourism in regional conferences. They created a venue where participants exchanged ideas and case examples, discussing the shared challenges and objectives, and identifying the areas where they have to exert their efforts together.

The Asia-Pacific Regional Conference truly serves as a platform for representatives of the World Heritage Cities, relevant experts and institutions to come together to share their challenges under the defined topics and seek a better way.

Regional Conference aims to

build the consensus within the region on the issues pertaining to the World Heritage Sites and the World Heritage Cities,
reinforce the network between the World Heritage Cities,
work to develop very sophisticated and elaborate toolkits and insights for the theme,
share opinions on how to operate the AP Regional Secretariat and inputs on other issues of the agenda
